Once a respected company – then later it became a large conglomate stretching its name across many different product arenas … and now: the laughing stock of the Universe.
Time after time these last couple of years they have just made ridiculous failure after ridiculous failure… Just to mention a few:
- The Connect Player was launched as an “ITunes killer app”, but they haven’t barely tested the crap before stuffing it down along with their new “IPod Killer” (The Walkman A3-1000/A3-3000)… and who got burned? Their customers! And in the usual Sony-We-Are-Flawless manner they refused every problem until too many customers were pissed off (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/01/30/sony_connect_player_problems/)
- Their Atrac/Copyright format, that was suppose to deal away with the MP3 – leaving Sony back in charge of the vessel again.. And wauv, what a succes! After soo many years of not listening to customers or watching how their sales failed they finally did like the rest and accepted that the customers have made a choice about MP3 (and to some degree WMV for reasons unknown to me
) (http://msmvps.com/blogs/chrisl/archive/2004/09/22/14013.aspx)
- No one could ever forget their “small” laughing-stock matter of their copyright-protection scheme, that actually made music cd’s walking hackers into your or the military’s computers… And their standard way of handling the matter was of course: Denial, then denial, then let the customers suffer some more until the public procecutors started appearing, then a little admitting, then a little more, then a bit more, then acceptance of their failure… (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_CD_copy_protection_scandal)
- Apparently the great “quality” of Sony products doesn’t include their batteries, which have turned out to be a far greater threat to humanity then terrorists every will… (http://www.technewsworld.com/story/53324.html)
What happens when a company becomes that deaf to ones customers and just makes a living of ones brand? Well, things will quickly begin to look grim financially (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/06/22/ap/business/mainD8ID49VO0.shtml)
And now all their hopes for returning to a economical sane place in this world to avoid running down the drain their are currently circling they are betting everything on their lovechild, The PlayStation 3 … not only for the great game industry business, but also for winning the HD DVD vs. Blu Ray conflict (which certainly doesn’t make life easy for their customers either) … And everything on the PlayStation seems to go wrong as well! … Apparently it should have been named the PayStation as everything from the games to the bloody box itself costs a bit more than a soul on garage sales in Hell!
Sony is soon to be gone! Rest in peace! …

This saturday we had another small party for a few of my friends in the comforts of my humble appartment. The few pictures that was taken can be seen in the Gallery…
On another note: Tomorrow I will be attending a lecture on development in Windows Vista, which I’m quite looking forward to! … and just to mention it: My new computer is working flawlessly – and is still blazingly fast

Just to let you know, the computer is now running perfectly – and by god it’s fast, silent and good-looking!
The installation of the S-ATA drives wasn’t an easy task – especially since Asus didn’t explain the difference between their IDE-drive connector and EIDE-drive connector, but obviously (after a great deal of error-testing) EIDE-drive connectors aren’t the perfect choice for the DVD-burner …
I have now installed Windows XP Pro (and the several thousand updates required), and later today will come all the fun stuff, such as GBPVR and of course Oblivion
And for the record: it’s a nice case with a cool LCD panel – showing that my cpu is very, very cool

Finally on the other side! I have just installed the new motherboard in my new HTPC… And it works – The whole shebang!!! Relief as a word cannot describe it
Here is the beauty, that has caused so much trouble and time…
Now all that’s left is to install all the software and load up Oblivion

Working with SAP Development everyday becomes tidious and occasionally boring, so here is a small plea: If you know an interesting sparetime project I can put some time into please let me know… The requirements:
- Not SAP
- I would prefer to do something in .Net (to get some more experience with this framework) .. and if possible in C# (I love this little language)
- I prefer to work under managed coding conditions, by which I mean: Unit Testing, real object-oriented design and implementation and dynamic coding where possible
- Visual Studio Express or SharpDevelop for IDE please …
- No internet “coding” … I don’t like it – I want real applications
One needs to keep his skills attuned
In the meantime most of my waking hours is spent on the largest IT-project in the history of Denmark: KommunalReformen … Interesting, but still
Oh, and on a second note … I am expecting my motherboard (the real one) today by mail… Postdanmark just helped in on the situation by delaying it by 4 days… Lets hope this tragedy ends today

The other side isn’t that great… After having assembled my new computer it became apparent that something was wrong. After a bit of error-testing I was struck by the error… The PCB Revision of the motherboard wasn’t ready for Conroe. The motherboard sent to me by the raving amateurs at Proshop was revision 1.03G, but 2.0 or later is required to be Conroe-ready – even though they promised on their webpage that the motherboard was Conroe-ready.
I’m expecting a new motherboard today from a more professional company, SHG.dk … Hope to see you when I return from the darkness… There must be light at the end of the tunnel!

Just a small, but strangely positive, post…
Today became the day when Prosoft finally delivered upon their promise! I have just received my new Intel Conroe 6600 … So now begins the fun!
See you on the other side!
